The NY Times LOVES IT some Hollywood Bob
Once again I graced the pages of that cute little newspaper, the NEW YORK TIMES.
In a story about "that crusty old man who didn't know when to leave" and his slanderous ways, I was quoted directly:
Once the administrator of the campaign site “declared the server was being attacked and the Lieberman campaign accused the Ned Lamont campaign,” as the F.B.I. explained it, traffic to the Web site rose sharply, overwhelming the Web server and sending it off line once again.I really like my quote. It captures the audacity of the Senator's jaded staff while simultaneously ridiculing their incompetence.
Or, as one pro-Lamont blogger, Bob Adams, put it on Wednesday, the site was felled “because of the incompetence of Lieberman’s Internet coordinator, not because of some evil lefty conspiracy.”
In a telephone interview Wednesday, Mr. Lamont called on the senator to apologize for his campaign’s accusations.
“The Lieberman campaign unfairly attacked an awful lot of good people, starting with our campaign,” he said.
You almost can't pack more dismissiveness into a single sentence!

Hollywood Bob in the New York Times
To save space (and because nothing else interests me) I'm only going to post the passages that have something to do with me personally:
Working against him, however, are a handful of bloggers who are critical of his personality and politics. Several of them stood outside Mr. Amann’s announcement for governor with a rented hearse and signs that read “Amann D.O.A.” Their main gripe is Mr. Amann’s decision to back Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, an independent, rather than the Connecticut Democratic primary winner, Ned Lamott, in 2006, said 49-year-old Bob Adams of Milford. Mr. Adams, a network engineer who runs connecticutbob.com, was also part of the protest group at Mr. Amann’s announcement. The article is slightly innacurate in that it stated that I was part of the protest group, when in fact I was there to video the entire event and as a representative of the Milford DTC. But no problem; they included a working link to my other blog, which is a good thing.
Mr. Adams said he believes that “Jim Amann is not as decisive a leader as we deserve.” He added, “I see him as a political machine-type who can have some pretty raw moments.”
While Mr. Amann said he sometimes, and “regrettably,” has a short temper, he wished people like Mr. Adams would take the time to get to know him.
And from there, it's only a matter of time before they click on over here.
It's inevitable, really.
Because, how can anyone NOT want to read more about me?

It's MY Birthday!
I usually don't like to make a big thing out of my birthday. But I feel I can't deny my adoring fans the opportunity to send their birthday wishes.
That would be selfish of me.
So, here's your opportunity!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

My Acceptance Speech
Here's my Oscar Jr. acceptance speech:
I'd like to thank the DTC for bestowing this wonderful award upon me. I couldn't have accomplished any of this without the help of the dedicated members of the DTC, Tessa Marquis, Mike Brown, and all the candidates who worked so hard to make our dream become a reality.Remember, the name on the trophy is "Hollywood Bob".
Most of all, I'd like to thank myself, without whom none of this would have ever happened. I'm much obliged to me for all my talent and creativity, and for my dedication to the project. I'm completely indebted to me and will be forever grateful to myself.
In conclusion, I'd like to acknowledge my most gracious quality - my humility. I always give credit where credit's due. So, thank me.
Thank me very much!
C'mon...did you really expect anything other than that from me?

The new logo
Since I'd created a new logo for my political blog Connecticut Bob, I thought it's about time for one here.
First, here's the "CT Bob" logo, based upon the 1960's design of the Connecticut Turnpike sign (and when I say "based upon", I really mean "stolen outright"!):
Next, in keeping with the style of THIS blog, here's my humble little logo:

Nice, huh?

Hollywood Bob walks the Red Carpet
At the world premiere of "Honk For Peace", I graced all of my fans with a few moments of wisdom and humor as I strolled the red carpet shortly before entering the theater to watch MY brilliant footage appear on a 20-foot movie screen.
Hey, it's the very least I could have done for you.
(Trust me)

The Legend Grows
Here's yet another addition to my resume; or, as I prefer to call it:
"The Story of ME"!
I guess they had to give me an "Additional Camera" credit because "Director" and "Producer" were already taken.
Next stop: World Premiere!

Another Hollywood movie featuring "ME!"
Over the weekend my dear personal friends on My Left Nutmeg posted a link to this blog, so I thought I might as well give you all a little something new to enjoy.
Think of this as a public service to the vast legions of Hollywood Bob's loyal fans:
Actually, it's not so much a "Hollywood movie featuring me" per se...it's an independent documentary, and you only get to see me for about 12 seconds, along with some of my awesome footage from Ned Lamont's amazing Senate Primary Victory.
I know a lot of you might think 12 seconds of me is far too brief, but you should consider it like looking at the Sun. A brief glance will assure you of my stellar charm, but if you look too long, you'll certainly be dazzled, and possibly blinded by my supernova-like awesomeness!
Then how would I feel?
I was hoping for an Executive Producer credit for my part in bringing this magic to the silver screen, but my very good friend and filmmaker Mr. Corey Boutilier is very strict about giving away credits like that to people who don't actually EARN them!
Oh well...it's worth seeing anyway!
The gala World Premiere of "Honk For Peace", the new documentary about the anti-war movement that culminates mostly with the Lamont-Lieberman Senate Race, is set for Saturday, November 3rd at 6PM (Red carpet) 7PM (showtime) in Greenwich.
Among the special guests at the debut are Ned Lamont and Alan Schlesinger, who will participate in a Q&A following the movie. Joe Lieberman is busy undermining the Constitution and won't be able to make it.

Now I'm "Milford Bob"
(Here's an article about our town's Democratic Convention this week)
(From the Connecticut Post, 7/18/07 MEG BARONE, Correspondent)
MILFORD — Promising to provide tax relief to city veterans and the elderly, improve infrastructure and create even better schools, Alderman Kerri Rowland accepted the nomination as the Democratic mayoral candidate Wednesday.
Kerri Rowland will campaign to unseat incumbent Republican Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr.

(Alderman Kerri Rowland with House Speaker James A. Amann)
"The status quo is not good enough. We can do better; we must do better," Rowland said to a crowd of about 250 people at City Hall, where Democrats selected a slate of candidates for Board of Aldermen, Board of Education, Planning and Zoning Board and constable in each of the five districts.
Rowland was nominated by state Sen. Gayle Slossberg, while Speaker of the House James Amann nominated Alan Jepson for city clerk, calling the former three-term mayor "the political gold standard [who] engenders universal respect and appeal."

Democrats entered City Hall through a gauntlet of young girls who distributed colorful pro-Rowland signs, which the audience waved wildly when Rowland responded to the unanimous vote for her candidacy, "Thank you for the nomination. I accept."

"Kerri has the unique ability to problem solve, to get things done," Slossberg said.
The nominating convention was short on surprises but did not lack in ceremony. Members of a local Boy Scout troop presented the colors, Rev. Carleton Giles delivered the invocation asking for blessings on "those who aspire to lead us to further greatness," and the 10-voice Coastal Chordsmen sang the national anthem and other selections.
After a brief caucus of district members, which seemed merely a formality, Democratic Party Chairman Richard Smith had each district chairman stand to present their slate of candidates, which was followed by a unanimous vote.
Smith thanked the candidates for their willingness to serve their community saying, "This is where the rubber meets the road."
April Moss Ellis brought her two daughters — Kayla Ellis, 10, and Sydney Ellis, 8 — to the political event. "I'm trying to help them understand the importance of the electoral process and we're here to give Kerri our support," Ellis said.
